Shaun loves the sport of football for many reasons – building the bond with his teammates, learning discipline, the challenge of athleticism the sport pushes him to, but most of all Shaun loves protecting his quarterback and doing his job while on the field. Off of the field, Shaun has joined a brotherhood of friends that he will forever be bonded with. For him, football is more than just a sport, it’s a family.
Shaun’s father is who inspires him. He is not just Shaun’s father, but also his coach. Whether it is on or off the field, Shaun says his father’s dedication, commitment and drive for all things in life inspires him to strive to embody the same characteristics. Shaun has learned that sports come when the rest of business is taken care of – meaning faith, family and education. Shaun hopes that one day he will be able inspire those around him the same way his father has inspired him.
It is a moment when Shaun experienced extreme adversity and of which he has shown true grit, determination and commitment. Shaun broke his femur during a pre-season practice. While his response to this injury has been founded in strength and courage, his choosing to remain on the field by moving to the role of coach has made us the proudest. Shaun says he may not be able suit up, but he is still going to protect his quarterback and use his knowledge of the game to lead his team to victory.
