What I love about wrestling is that it’s more than just a sport it’s a test of heart, discipline, and mental toughness. Every time I step onto the mat, I know it’s just me and my opponent. There’s no one else to rely on, no excuses. Win or lose, I own the outcome. That accountability pushes me to train harder and grow stronger, both physically and mentally.Wrestling has taught me the value of hard work, the power of persistence, and how to stay composed under pressure.
The person who has inspired me most both on and off the mat is my coaches, my mom ,wrestling legend like Jordan Burroughs. Their influence goes far beyond wrestling techniques or match strategy. They’ve taught me how to carry myself with discipline, respect, and resilience.On the mat, they pushed me to reach my limits. Whether it was extra reps after practice, tough love during a tough loss, or celebrating the small wins, they always believed in my potential especially when I doubted it myself
The moment that makes me proudest was when Shawn competed in cif and came back from behind to win a match everyone thought was over. They were down on points, exhausted, and clearly hurting but they didn’t quit. Instead, they dug deep, stayed focused, and pulled off a comeback in the final seconds.
