Thank you for generously supporting Shelton in this year’s competition. Your support helps empower the V Foundation for Cancer Research and the Why Not You Foundation in their respective missions to save lives and empower today's youth to become tomorrow's leaders.
Shelton loves the fast pace, the thrill of making a big shot, and the teamwork it takes to win. He enjoys improving his skills, whether it's dribbling, shooting, or defense, and feels proud when he sees his hard work pay off. He loves the excitement of games, the energy of the crowd, and the bond he shares with his teammates. Basketball makes him feel confident, focused, and truly happy.
Shelton is inspired by his parents, who always push him to do his best and never give up. His uncle, who played professional basketball, shows him what’s possible with hard work and focus. And his hero, Michael Jordan, inspires him because he made the game exciting, never backed down from a challenge, and always wanted to win. He thinks it’s cool how MJ believed in himself even when others didn’t.
Shelton works hard and has a lot of grit. At Xavier University’s basketball camp, his team made it to the championship game. On the final day, with all the players and teams watching, he hit the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer. Seeing his smile and excitement was an unforgettable moment that made us so proud. Hard work truly pays off.
