Skylan is Guided by his deep faith in God and draws strength, discipline, and purpose from his family. His father, a retired military veteran, and his two older brothers, both active-duty service members, were all former athletes who showed him what it means to work hard, lead with integrity, and face every challenge with courage both on and off the field. His mother, a dedicated teacher and former athlete, instills in him the importance of education, focus, and heart.
One moment in my child's athletic journey that makes me incredibly proud was the day he chose character over recognition. During a close basketball game, he had the chance to score and take the spotlight-but instead, he passed the ball to a teammate who hadn't scored all season. That one act of selflessness lit up the whole team. It reminded me that while winning is great, true greatness is shown in how you lift others up.
