Sofia loves building connections. This sport has grown her confidence and self-esteem. She has come out of her shell since playing soccer. She has so much fun, we have to tell her if she won or lost her game. It is about having fun with her friends.
Sofia draws inspiration from one of her teammate, Kiera. She helps encourage Sofia to run faster, push harder, and keep in the game. The friendship and friendly competition between them is heartwarming. Sofia loves to see everyone succeed.
Sofia's determination has made for some proud moments. There was a game where nothing was going right. She got hit 3 times in the face with the ball and tripped over someone. I could see the moment her mindset changed. She went from almost tears and wanting to sit out to a "I got this" attitude with confidence to turn the game around. The second half went way better and she scored a goal. Watching that moment where she had every reason to quit turn into a game winning moment made me so proud.
