You decide who will be named Youth Athlete of the Year, featured in a 3BRAND ad in Sports Illustrated, and take home $25,000
Sophie is extremely talented both academically and athletically. Sophie seeks out challenges in everything she does and strives to for greatness. Sophie loves the personal challenge of being a competitive swimmer. She thrives with the mental aspect of racing and understands exactly what she is capable of. Sophie enjoys the amazing friendships she has made on the pool deck that will last a lifetime.
Sophie was inspired by her parents & grandparents. Conversations through Sophie’s injury plagued season in 2024-25 as a 13 year old were about facing challenges head on and not giving up, including injuries. Her mom shared countless moments where pain from prior injuries almost made her quit but she continued to wake up daily and persevere in life. Sophie listened to these tough lessons and never gave up. She showed up to the pool everyday and did whatever she could to the best of her ability.
During the 2024-25 competitive swim season, Sophie overcame a debilitating foot injury. Just one month into the season she was not able to use her right foot due to OS navicular Syndrome. She continued to attend practice and train without her foot. She persevered through painful rehab & 3 experimental injections to lubricate the bones. 6 months later she overcame adversity and began to build up her leg muscles to get back to her racing strength. She never gave up when the odds were against her.
