She controls the controllable. Once the ball leaves her hand, that moment is over. On to the next play. She looks forward to the next opportunity because she can control that. She can control her effort on defense, her hustle after a loose ball, and getting in the best possible position to grab a rebound. The result of all of her efforts? Sweat…she loves to sweat!
Lamont Clemons. He is the founder of Roots 101; an African American museum (From slavery to today) in Louisville KY whom she met while at an AAU tournament. His message resonated with her…”Look back so you can move forward.” This Life changing event was more impactful coming from someone who is black, than we, her white parents, ever could have done.
As a freshman in high school, Taressa helped her team accomplish something that hadn’t been done since the year 2000. They made it to State! During the post season run, she dominated moments of each game. She was no longer just a freshman on varsity, she was the “X” factor! Not only were we and the whole community proud, she was proud of herself which can get lost at times during the teen years. Also, the first time she grabbed the rim was an unreal event.
