She loves her teammates. The bond on and off the court is immeasurable. Basketball has provided a development of confidence, a sense of organization, and a social importance to work with others. It has been an outlet for life's challenges, academic work, teenage growth, and personal responsibilities. Once she steps on the court, she is in her element to be her.
She has been inspired by one of her coaches, Coach Lloyd, and her grandmother. Coach Lloyd is a teacher and a coach. He helps her balance school, play, and life through listening, encouraging, and mentoring The second person is her grandmother, Debbie, who has raised her since she was 5. As a former athlete, she instilled discipline by teaching importance of attending practice, being on time, and she was there to her at every practice, every game.
She has been on varsity since she was in 8th grade. She has worked on skills and physical build every year. When she walked on the court as a sophomore starter, she beemed with pride. As a junior, she was Regional player of the year. She is proud when her work pays off in small moments, rather than one big moment. This will be her year as a senior to make more "moments."
