You decide who will be named Youth Athlete of the Year, featured in a 3BRAND ad in Sports Illustrated, and take home $25,000
There are many things about swimming Tristan loves like staying healthy, setting goals and pushing himself towards them, but what he loves most is the sportsmanship experience. At every practice and meet, you can count on seeing him cheering on his teammates and congratulating and cheering up his opponents no matter what the outcome of the race is. Tristan thrives in a positive and welcoming environment and he knows it. He always makes the people around him feel good and not left behind.
Tristan doesn’t have anyone in particular that he looks up to. He does watch great swimmers swim and learn from their styles. He loves growing collectively with his teammates. I know for a fact that he looks up to some of them and use them to push himself further while cultivating friendship and trying to grow as athletes together.
I love watching Tristan staying focused. Every year he sets his own goal and does everything in his power to make the goal a reality for himself. This year at the STX championship in Corpus Christi, TX, he had his mind set to earn an A time standard is 50 meter breaststroke event. He missed it by 0.02 seconds. As mush as I feared him being heartbroken, the one thing he told me right after that race was “I’ll get it next short course season. I can do it.” I was so pruned of my son.
