What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

It’s his home, the place where he feels most like himself and completely grounded. From the very first time he attended a Calgary Stampeders game with his step-father, Dan, he knew he loved football. That moment planted a seed, and over time, the sport became a passion that gave him a sense of belonging and purpose. When he steps onto the field now, the rest of the world fades away, and he’s able to channel his energy and focus into something that truly matters to him.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Every time he pulls on his jersey and sees #88 on his back, he’s reminded of why he plays. That number isn’t just a number; it’s the year his mom was born, a constant reminder of the strength and determination she’s shown through every challenge life has thrown at her. Even when she couldn’t always be on the sidelines cheering, her unwavering drive to “carry the boats” and keep moving forward has inspired Trystin to give his best on and off the field.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

my proudest moment was watching him put on that jersey for the very first time. It wasn’t just about the sport - it was about everything that moment represented. When we moved to Drumheller, our lives were in chaos. We faced trauma and uncertainty, and yet, Trystin rose to the occasion in a way that took my breath away. He didn’t let his circumstances define him; instead, he stepped forward with strength, composure, and a quiet determination that showed me just how resilient he truly is.
