Receive Text UpdatesHe loves the competition. He loves that ever time he steps up to the line to race that the other kids look at him like they can beat him just because he’s smaller then them. He loves to be the underdog and win. His favorite part is the friendships he makes with kids from all around the country.
His family and coaches at Derby City Speed really inspire him to keep going and working hard for his goals. He also really looks up to all the older skaters who have become world champions. He wants to be just like them.
The proudest moment for me was when he was 9 and his coaches signed him up for races in the 12-13 division. He had no idea he was racing till the race was about to start. They called his name and he didn’t even flinch. I picked him up and set him over the wall and he went out there fearlessly to stand against 12-13 year old kids. I was a nervous wreck, but he went for it, got right in there with 10 of those big boys and ended up placing 3rd. He’s won a lot of medals but to me that was the best.
