What I love most about playing soccer is the relationships that playing soccer brings. The majority of my closest friends have all began with soccer. Your friends will always push you to be the very best version of yourself and I think having a strong connection with my teammates has helped me grow into the player I am today.
The person who inspires me most on and off the field is my dad. My dad was a goalkeeper growing up and he was the one that sparked my love of the game. He is always willing to take time out of his day to help train me and I learned most of what I know from him. Besides soccer he is also the hardest worker I ever met and I strive to have a work ethic as good as him someday. He does so much every day for me and my family to be able to chase our dreams no matter what they are.
I think one of the things that I have been most proud of watching isn’t even just her success as a goalkeeper but her success as a teammate. She had a coach that referred to her as her teammates’ “soft place to land”. At this level of play there can be a lot of pressure and I’ve witnessed a lot of toxic behavior on the field. She is her teammates biggest supporter, cheerleader and shoulder to cry on. I’ve even seen her comfort the opposing keeper. I’m proud of the person she’s become.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
