You decide who will be named Youth Athlete of the Year, featured in a 3BRAND ad in Sports Illustrated, and take home $25,000
Yazmyn loves the competitiveness and camaraderie. Her teammates are very important to her and she feels extremely close to them, she values them not just as athletes but as friends. She also takes great pride in representing her team!
It isn't necessarily one individual for Yazmyn, but many. Her inspiration to be a part of a team started with seeing a young gymnastics team practicing in the local gym, she watched them and said "Mom, I am going to do that one day!" And she did just that! From there it was watching the olympics and college teams on TV. Her dream is to now play college athletics and earn a scholarship, with goals of going D1!
What makes me proudest as her mom is how she handles tough moments and celebrates others’ wins. In a tough, single-elimination game, her team was down big, but they rallied at the end. She cheered for her teammates' great plays, made one herself, and walked off the field full of pride. Despite the loss, her and her teammates joy would have made you thought they won. I always want her to celebrate the small wins.
