What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Zavian loves that football keeps him physically and mentally engaged in his everyday lifestyle, from keeping his grades up in school to keeping him disciplined at home and on the field. His growth throughout the year has made a positive impact on his peers and has remained humble the entire time. Zavian loves being a part of a team and a community but most importantly an example to his younger brothers who look up to him! Besides football Zavian has also tried basketball and wrestling.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

His biggest inspiration is his step dad Eri Gonzalez who came into his life at only 3 years old and put in the time and effort to keep Zavian on a team. Eri decided to step up and volunteer as Zavian’s coach for the NFL flag league for the first time at 6 years old then began coaching as head coach for the Prosser JR. mustangs in Prosser Washington. A small town in eastern Washington. Zavian says his dad Eri has taught him to become a better athlete and hopes to go to UW on a scholarship.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

I would say the proudest moment in Zavian’s athletic journey has been looking at his pictures that he’s taken through the years of him playing football and seeing him grow into the spunky, bright young man that he is. He’s become a team favorite with his silly personality and his uplifting spirit. It makes me proud to hear how much he is loved by his team mates and team parents. My goal in life was to raise good hearted kids and Zavian has been everything to be proud for.
