Zewenah has shown a love for soccer since the age of six. She always expressed her love for Pelé, a soccer legend who grew up in a hard upbringing and faced many difficulties because of his skin color and origin. But these challenges never stopped him from becoming an inspiration, a great example of Zewenah's character. She shows her love for soccer through leadership, critical thinking, heart, compassion, purpose, emotion, and skills. When people hear Zewenah, they also hear soccer.
Not only does Zewenah express her love for Pelé as a great example and inspiration, but deep down, her inspiration always started at home. Her parents, James and Marriam Midamba, have instilled in her the foundations of respect, loyalty, hard work, patience, humility, and a mindset of never giving up. Her parents, coming straight from Kenya and having to start from zero, have shown her that you could achieve anything and overcome adversity to succeed.
Last season, not making the top team was tough, but she turned it into motivation. She set goals: make varsity as a freshman at a 4A school and try out for EPD (Elite Player Development). Through hard work and determination, she achieved both. She even traveled to Portugal with EPD and earned solid playtime. She also earned respect award and received varsity letter. We’re proud of her for knowing her worth, setting goals, believing in herself, and never giving up. #thegameneedsher #whynother.
