Zion fell in love with basketball because it’s more than just a game to him He loves the fast pace, the challenge of pushing himself, and the feeling of being part of a team. He lights up when he makes a good play, and you can see his focus sharpen every time he steps onto the court. It’s the place where he gets to express himself, learn discipline, and chase something bigger than himself.
Zion’s basketball journey has always been about more than just the game because his coach has also been his dad. 💪🏀 From his very first season to his fifth, his father has been right there on the sidelines, not just calling plays but building his confidence, pushing him to grow, and showing him what leadership really looks like. On the court, Zion looks up to the greats but his biggest inspiration wears the same last name and stands in his corner at every game and off court.
One moment in Zion’s athletic journey that made me stop and just feel proud was during a game where his team was down, the energy was low, and a lot of kids were ready to give up. But Zion didn’t fold. Instead, he stepped up not just with his game, but with his voice. He encouraged his teammates, helped them refocus, and hustled harder than ever. They didn’t win that game, but he showed leadership, heart, and maturity beyond his years. That was the moment I realized: He’s going to be a superstar
