Zoey loves the adventure of learning new obstacles and challenging herself to do new things. Her favorite ninja obstacles are special deliveries and the warped wall, but she mostly loves the feeling of working hard to complete an obstacle and cheer on her friends when they do the same, or encourage them when they need it. She also loves not letting Sickle Cell Disease hold her back. She may have to work and train harder to overcome some of her physical challenges, but she's proud of that.
Zoey is inspired by athletes like Kobe Bryant because he held himself to a high standard and didn't make excuses. She is also inspired by her coaches who have helped her believe in herself.
Zoey has gotten on the podium in several competitions, but the most proud I've ever been of her is when she came in last place. She made an error on the first obstacle in a course, but she was allowed to run out her time. She got up after the fail and ran the rest of the course with a determination and fierceness like I'd never seen. I was so proud that she didn't let failure define her. She showed herself and everyone watching to never give up even after setback or failure.
