Receive Text UpdatesWhat I love most about watching her play flag football is seeing how much she challenges herself to become better every day. She started the sport without knowing much about it, but she quickly fell in love with the competition, the speed, and the excitement of making a play for her team. I’m especially proud that she gets to be part of a generation helping girls’ flag football grow and showing how far this sport can go.
One of the things that inspires her most is seeing people who have had to prove they belong in spaces where they weren’t always expected to be. At 4’8”, she is one of the smaller players on the field, but she has never let her size define what she can do. She has learned that being undersized doesn’t mean you can’t compete, contribute, or make an impact. Watching her continue to push herself and prove that is something I’m incredibly proud of.
The moment I’m most proud of was when she earned Most Improved Player after her first season. When she started, she didn’t know much about flag football, so seeing how much she learned and improved in just one season meant so much. That award represented more than an achievement, it showed her that being new at something is not a weakness. It simply gives you somewhere to start, and she has continued to build from there.
