What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Adrian loves being active. He was told at 2 that sports would be limited due his diagnosed rare blood condition (ITP), but by age 4 he begged to run track. As we signed him up for track, he pushed through being the smallest kid in every age group. By age 7 he begged to do more sports, but with the oncologist constantly monitoring his blood, we struggled to find a sport that wouldn’t be too dangerous as we got his blood condition under control. Soon after joining baseball, football and basketball

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Surprisingly I feel Adrian is self motivated on the field. He enjoys seeing great players, and tries to find ways to learn more from others. He likes to say his condition inspires him to push harder, through healthy choices and constant exercise. Ironic how the condition meant to tear him down, makes him play harder, which is why he deserves Athlete of the Year.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

I will honestly say every day I see Adrian push through, I get motivated myself. I couldn’t pick one moment, because every moment on the field cheering him on reminds me of his resilience and passion for sports.
