I feel like my son deserves to be athlete of the year because of his love for the sport, but also his dedication on and off the field.
Thank you for supporting Ahmir in this competition. Your participation made a huge impact for the Why Not You Foundation and their mission to empower change in the world, one individual at a time and one child at a time.
What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreHe first fell in love with football at the age of four when he realized that he was good at it. He is very competitive and that’s the part. He loves the most he loves challenging himself and he loves being a team player. He also loves the feeling of winning although we have to work on when things does not go his way with the sport. I feel like that’s just a fight in him that he feels like he gotta keep going until he is satisfied.
If you actually ask him who inspires him most likely, he will say me, lol which I don’t know why I never played football, but I do love football and always have. I always push him to be better and I always push him to do what he love. He also looks up to my brother. He played football his whole life, and he heard stories about his dad being good at football, and his dad passed away, so he feels like he has to live that dream for him.
I will never forget when his team had to run laps around the football field, which at this time he had never done before during practice. He was so pale and so tired after that, he almost scared me, but there was other kids who was not done with their laps when he was. He drank water and took a break, and he went all the way to where the kids was and finished running with them to motivate them to finish and that they can do it because some of them was giving up.
