What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreI love the competitiveness, the feeling of competing and representing our small community in every sport I play. I also love all the friendships I’ve made these past years. Playing sports pushed me to be the best I can be, I enjoy being active and moving and sports helps me do just that, it helps me clear my mind. I love how I can be myself whether I’m on the court, the ice, a field, or course. I love sports cause it makes me happy.
My family inspires me the most. They support me no matter how I’m playing or what kind of day I’m having. My parents especially push me to be the best version of myself. My mom taught me everything I know about volleyball and is the reason I fell in love with the sport. My dad played hockey with me and taught me tricks to help me perform my best. They have always believed in me and helped me achieve my goals.
One moment that made me especially proud was watching her remain focused throughout volleyball provincials. Even when her team was trailing by several points, she stayed composed, encouraged her teammates, and continued to fight until the very end. Her perseverance and ability to stay mentally strong helped her team come back and win every game, including the provincial final. Watching her believe in herself and her team was incredibly inspiring.
