What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreWhat Alana loves most about playing volleyball, flag football, and sports in general is being a leader and encouraging and cheering on her teammates. She also loves the friendships she makes while playing sports. Lastly, she loves the feeling after a workout, knowing she gave it her all and is one step closer to achieving her goals.
Alana’s sister, who is a collegiate volleyball player, as well as some of her coaches, inspired Alana to start playing the sports she loves. In addition to Alana’s sister, her family is also her biggest supporter, and they encourage Alana to keep working hard to achieve her biggest goals and dreams. She also is a big fan of Kobe Bryant and his “Mamba” Mentality. She lives by the quote from Kobe Bryant’s teacher that says “Rest in the end, not in the middle”.
One moment that makes me the proudest is when Alana was chosen by her teammates to be the team captain. Being selected by her peers as captain showed that she is not only an inspiring leader but also well liked by her peers. Alana always wants the best for her teammates and encourages them to be the best players and people they can be, both on and off the court.
