What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What he love most about hockey is he never has to leave the ice. He plays every position except goalie. He loves forward for the speed and scoring, and defense for stopping a play and making a long breakout pass. Playing everywhere helps him understand the whole game. The best part for him is being part of a team - when they make a great play together, that's the best feeling.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

On the ice, it's Sidney Crosby. My son is a center too and he loves that Crosby is the best in the world but plays like the hardest worker - winning faceoffs, back-checking hard, and always making his teammates better. Off the ice, it's his coaches. Nolan & Avery Sawchuk. They taught him that being a great teammate and being polite and respectful matters more than any goal.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

My proudest moment wasn't a goal. He lives to play center, but when his coach needs him on wing or defense he just says 'got it' and goes. What makes me proudest is how he does it - he's the loudest on the bench hyping everyone up when we're down, and the first to help up an opponent and say good game. Best teammate on and off the ice.
