Constant practice built Alex’s confidence, eased his anxiety, and revealed his inner strength. He never gives up.
Thank you for supporting Alexander in this competition. Your participation made a huge impact for the Why Not You Foundation and their mission to empower change in the world, one individual at a time and one child at a time.
What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreAlex loves everything about soccer—the competition, being part of a team, and especially the challenge of getting better. He is happiest with a ball at his feet and will practice a skill over and over until he gets it. Soccer has also helped him grow in confidence and learn to keep going when things don’t go perfectly. More than anything, he simply loves the game and the joy he feels every time he steps onto the field.
Cristiano Ronaldo inspires Alex both on and off the field. He admires his incredible skill and success, but even more, his work ethic and dedication. Alex loves that Ronaldo became one of the best through constant practice, determination, and never giving up. He inspires Alex to work hard, believe in himself, and keep pushing to get better—even when something is difficult.
Of course I’m proud when Alex scores a goal, makes a great pass, or plays his heart out, but my proudest moments are when someone gets hurt. He is often one of the first to stop, check on them, and offer a hand to help them up—even if they’re on the other team. Seeing his kindness and sportsmanship shine through reminds me that who he is on the field matters far more than the score.
