What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Alex likes to set goals and works hard to beat his own times. He loves to see his progress if it is working his way up the USA motivational swimming times or beating his own time running. He loves having a sense of community on his swim team and cheering for his teammates.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

My teacher in middle school teacher Ms. Mulco is my inspiration. She is a marathon runner and helped me set up a training program. She believed in my goal. She also coached me in track and field.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

I was so proud of Alex for setting a goal of running his first half marathon. He chose to train on the weekends and his limited spare time exhibiting self discipline. He was one of four kids 14 and under and he ran a 1 hr 36 min time. Truly outstanding for a 12 year old! Coming in 2 place for his age group and 16th overall for men.
