What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Team work but she also loves flipping and the strength she needs to do the things she does. She loves the sport and hopes to continue for a long time. Aliya wants to win this competition in order to bring attention to her relatively small sport here in Canada to help it grow!

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

An athlete named Sol who has retired from the sport, coaches and honestly her oldest brother who is probably her biggest cheer leader.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

I’m most proud of all the extra work she does at home in addition to the 5 days a week she trains to be as good as she is. I am also very proud that she did so well at her first world (European) competition in Portugal. Her team came out 11th out of 36 trios! Very impressive for a first exposure to the European acro world! Way to go Aliya. I am also proud that she is trying to bring attention to her sport so that there can be bigger and better competitions here in Canada! Go Aliya go!
