He was inspired by his cousin Ben Tucker who was the first African American to run an equivalent sub 4 minute mile. And wrote a book called “A Good run” which is an autobiography of his life as a track and field athlete in 1960
His dedication, hard work, and his commitment to his sport. At first I didn’t want Amari to run track, I wanted him to play basketball. But he rejected that and decided to run track and field. And when I thought it wouldn’t last after 8th grade. He still continued it in high school.
