What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Amari loves everything about football…the competition, teamwork, discipline and brotherhood. The field became a place where he could channel his emotions, clear his mind and turn pain into strength. Football has taught him that even when life gets hard, he can keep showing up, working hard and pushing forward.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Amari is inspired by his Uncle Ty. They shared a special bond, and losing him at such a young age changed Amari forever. He carries his uncle’s memory with him on and off the field. His loss taught Amari that tomorrow isn’t promised, so he works hard, stays focused in school, and gives his all in football. Every time he steps on the field, he has another reason to keep pushing and make his uncle proud.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

What makes me proudest is watching Amari turn pain into purpose. After losing his uncle at only 9 years old, I watched football become more than a sport for him… it became his safe place. He kept showing up, kept working hard, and never allowed his grief to stop him. Seeing him excel on the field while maintaining great grades in school reminds me just how strong and determined my grandson truly is.
