On the field, Amelia looks to her teammates and favorite softball pitcher, Sam Landry, for inspiration, studying their techniques and approach to the game. Off the field, her biggest role model is her dad. He practices with her, gives honest feedback, lifts her up when she struggles, and reminds her that hard work pays off. He has taught her that if it were easy, everyone would be great. Above all, he is her biggest supporter and number one fan.
My proudest moment was watching her pitch her first truly tough game. Even when every ball was being hit, she made adjustments, accepted feedback, and refused to give up. That was when I knew she was a strong, resilient leader who would never quit. She is a role model to her teammates and friends, leading through perseverance, determination, and a genuine awareness of how her actions impact those around her.
