What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Amiyn loves playing basketball and soccer because they give him a sense of excitement, competition, accomplishment, and belonging. In basketball, he may especially enjoy the fast pace, making plays, scoring, improving his skills, and competing alongside his teammates. In soccer, he loved the freedom to move, the teamwork, creating opportunities, and the satisfaction of seeing a play come together.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Soccer inspires me because it gives me something to work hard for and makes me want to keep getting better. On the field, I’m inspired by my teammates, my coaches, and the feeling I get when I make a good play, score a goal, or help my team win. Off the field, soccer teaches me to stay focused, work hard, be responsible, and not give up when things get difficult. What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

The moment that made me the proudest was seeing my son realize that hard work, determination, and never giving up can make a difference. It wasn’t necessarily one goal, basket, or victory it was watching him step onto the field with confidence, face challenges, support his teammates, and keep pushing himself even when things didn’t go his way. Seeing him grow from a young athlete into a disciplined, resilient, and compassionate young man has been the greatest accomplishment of all.
