What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Andres is a multi sport student athlete. He lives for practices and drills. He loves to master a skill and see how his performance increases with every game or meet. Andres loves competing and enjoys teammates that challenge him because it helps him step out of his comfort zone and strive to be better. Andres loves to teach and share what he knows with others. He is a quiet kid (quite an observer) but on the field he enjoys putting into play what he has been training for all year.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

He is inspired by his late grandfather Jorge Rivas. Who played in national baseball leagues in El Salvador. He knows his grandfathers work ethic was impeccable and he models his own worth ethic around his grandfather. Since he was 10 years old Andres is self disciplined. He sets is own alarms, ensures he is early to practices or any event, he meal preps his own food, and he initiates practices with teammates on off days.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

I’m mostly proud of Andres growth as an athlete throughout the years. Watching him take ownership of his development and seek opportunities to grow is rewarding as a parent. Especially his leadership presence is admirable and the drive and discipline that Andres carries with him in all three of his chosen sports.
