Andrew is Youth Athlete of the Year because of his dedication, commitment, and drive to improve. He never gives up in any sport he plays.
Thank you for supporting Andrew in this competition. Your participation made a huge impact for the Why Not You Foundation and their mission to empower change in the world, one individual at a time and one child at a time.
What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreHe loves the competitiveness of the game and the excitement of challenging himself to be better. He enjoys learning new skills, improving through practice, and seeing his hard work pay off. He especially loves being part of a team, growing together, encouraging his teammates, and celebrating each other’s accomplishments. Sports have also given him the opportunity to make new friends, build confidence, learn teamwork and leadership, and create memories that he will carry with him.
His grandfather inspires him most. Since Andrew was 2 years old, his grandfather has helped him learn and love baseball. Isaiah Hill also inspires him because of his patience and dedication in helping Andrew improve his basketball skills. His coaches and teammates inspire him too, because he learns something new from each of them and is always encouraged to become a better athlete and teammate.
One of the moments that makes me most proud is when Andrew realized that not all of his teammates have the same skill set or abilities. Instead of becoming frustrated, he chose to encourage them, remind them not to give up, and help them improve. Seeing him understand that being a great athlete is not only about personal success, but also about lifting up those around him, showed me how much he has grown both as a player and as a person.
