What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

RJ loves basketball because it challenges him to become better every time he steps on the court. He enjoys competing, being part of a team, and seeing his hard work turn into progress. Basketball gives him an opportunity to push himself physically and mentally, build confidence, and learn from both wins and losses. Most of all, he loves the excitement of the game and the opportunity to compete.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

RJ is inspired by athletes who had to work for their success instead of having everything come easily. He respects players who stay disciplined, overcome setbacks, remain coachable, and continue improving. Off the court, his family inspires him to keep pushing toward his goals, stay focused on his education, and remember that being a successful student-athlete is about character, responsibility, and how you carry yourself.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

My proudest moments aren't tied to one game, trophy, or stat. I'm proudest of watching RJ continue to grow through challenges. I've seen him work on his game, learn from mistakes, accept coaching, and keep going when things didn't happen as quickly as he wanted. Watching him become more confident, disciplined, and determined has meant more to me than any scoreboard. His journey is still being written, and I'm proud of the young man he's becoming.
