What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What Asher loves most about karate is that he is really competing against himself. Every class gives him a chance to improve, push past his limits, and become better than he was yesterday. He loves setting goals, working hard to achieve them, and seeing his progress along the way. Whether he wins or loses, he knows there is always something he can learn and improve. Karate has taught him that success isn’t about being better than someone else—it’s about becoming the best version of himself.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Asher is most inspired by his karate and ninja coaches. He looks up to them, trusts their guidance, and isn’t afraid to ask for feedback. He works hard in class and takes private karate and ninja lessons to reach his goals. He loves that his coaches know when to work hard and when to be silly and have fun. As parents, we’re grateful he has positive male role models who encourage, challenge, and believe in him.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One of the moments that makes me proudest is watching Asher be the biggest cheerleader on the sidelines. He claps and cheers for every competitor, celebrates their accomplishments, and encourages others even when the outcome isn’t in his favor. Seeing him choose kindness and sportsmanship reminds me that we’re not just raising a great athlete—we’re raising a genuinely good human. That is what makes my heart the proudest.
