What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreAsher loves competing, but even more than that, he loves being part of a team. He loves the big moments, the hard practices, learning new skills and seeing himself improve. Whether it’s football, basketball or baseball, he wants to be in the action and help his teammates succeed. He genuinely loves sports, the challenge, the friendships and the feeling of giving everything he has.
Asher is inspired by his dad, who has taught him that talent only takes you so far. Heart, discipline and hard work are what separate you. He’s grown up watching his dad compete, coach and pour his love of sports into the next generation. More than anything, he’s learned that being a great athlete means being a great teammate, leading others and never being afraid to work for something you want.
My proudest moment was where it all began. Asher was only 4, playing in a flag football championship against kids ages 5–8. It was freezing. Kids were crying and quitting, but on the final possession, Asher grabbed the ball and said, “I’ll snap it. I just want to win.” I got goosebumps. At four years old, nobody taught him that fire, it was already in him. That was the moment I knew he was different. I’ve believed he was born to compete ever since.
