What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreShe plays softball and what she likes most about it, is the mental game, along with the opportunity to play with a team but still have individual aspects of the game. She has learned so much mentally from this game, like how to brush off many errors in a row, and how to not let negative emotions determine the game. As well as learning to be a good teammate and do the things others may not be willing to.
She is inspired by her stepmom, my wife. She has said that her stepmom has done everything that she wants to do in her life. She wants to play softball in college and go on to become an orthopedic surgeon. Her stepmom played division 1 soccer for all four years, is now a trauma and emergency general surgeon and is the chief of surgery.
Watching her develop skills that are immeasurable. Her perseverance and resilience make me the most proud. She started a little later in this sport than her peers which put her “behind” skill wise when she first started playing travel ball. She made it her goal to be the best version of herself she could be. She puts in extra effort at every opportunity to grow, learn and get stronger as an athlete, teammate, and person.
