What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Ava loves sports because of the confidence she feels every time she steps onto a softball field or volleyball court. That confidence carries over into other areas of her life and reminds her that she is capable of accomplishing hard things. Being part of a team has also given Ava the opportunity to build strong friendships, learn how to support others, and understand the value of teamwork.Most importantly, sports have taught Ava that hard work, determination, and perseverance can take you far.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

My dad inspires me the most, both on and off the field. He has always been there to help me through everything, and I have always looked up to him. He inspired my love for sports and made me want to become an athlete just like him. I am especially thankful for his dedication and everything he does to give me opportunities to play the sports I love. He is always there cheering me on, encouraging me, and supporting me no matter where he is. Knowing that he believes in me motivates me to work hard

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

The moment that made me proudest had nothing to do with a home run or winning a game. During a summer game, an opposing catcher was hurt after running into a wall. Ava immediately grabbed water for her and checked on her again after the game. She understood that sports are about more than competition. She saw someone who needed help and chose compassion. Her kindness, maturity, and character made her dad and me incredibly proud.
