What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Averee simply loves to compete. In gymnastics, she loves learning new skills, challenging herself and finally landing something she’s worked hard for. Flag football is different—she just loves the game. She loves running, making plays, being part of a team and having fun on the field. At only 7, the best part is watching her genuinely LOVE being an athlete, no matter which sport she’s doing.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Averee says Simone Biles inspires her because she shows her how strong and fearless a girl can be. She also says I (mom) inspire her because I was a cheerleader, and she grew up watching my love for athletics. As her mom, that means more than she knows. She’s taken that inspiration and made it completely her own from gymnastics to flag football, a sport she simply fell in love with.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

My proudest moment isn’t just one win—it’s watching Averee discover the athlete within herself. Seeing her tumble without a spot and master skills that once challenged her amazes me. Then she steps onto the flag football field with a confidence far beyond her 7 years. What makes me proudest is her mindset: she doesn’t let a challenge defeat her. If she can’t do it yet, she keeps working until she can. Watching her realize just how capable she is makes me proud every single time.
