What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreAvery loves competing, learning new skills, and being part of a team. Whether he’s making a play himself or cheering on a teammate, he loves the excitement of the game. He especially enjoys being challenged and getting better each week. For him, sports are about having fun, working hard, and doing whatever his team needs him to do.
Avery is inspired by the challenge of becoming his best. As the youngest advanced brown belt at Stone Mountain Taekwondo Academy, his goal is to become the youngest student there to earn a black belt. Taekwondo has taught him discipline, focus, perseverance and respect. He carries those lessons from the mat to the football field, approaching every practice, position and challenge with the same determination.
Watching Avery get his first interception was unforgettable, but what made me proudest was everything behind it. He had listened to his coaches, learned his responsibility on defense, and trusted himself when the opportunity came. Seeing all that preparation turn into a big play was special. The celebration afterward was just a bonus!
