What my son loves most about playing sports is the excitement of competition, being part of a team, and the feeling of accomplishing something he has worked hard for. He enjoys challenging himself, learning new skills, and making memories with his teammates. Most of all, sports give him a sense of confidence, purpose, and joy. Mostly being a part of a great purpose. Something greater than himself.
The person who inspires my son most, both on and off the field, is his sister. She is currently serving in the Army, and he looks up to her for her strength, dedication, discipline, and determination. He is proud of everything she has accomplished through hard work and perseverance. Watching her serve her country and overcome challenges has taught him the importance of never giving up, staying committed to his goals, and always striving to be the best version of himself.
One moment in his athletic journey that makes me the proudest is seeing him continue to push forward, even when things are difficult. Watching him work hard, overcome challenges, and refuse to give up reminds me that sports are about so much more than winning. I’m proud of the determination, discipline, and character he is developing along the way. Seeing him grow in confidence and become a stronger athlete and person has been one of the greatest joys of being his parent.
