What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

I love that sports give me a place to be myself! I’ve always had a lot of energy and like to have fun, and sports give me a way to do that while competing and spending time with my friends. I love how sports allow me to focus and push myself to keep getting better. I’ve taken those skills and applied them in the classroom. I also enjoy seeing each year how much I grow, improve, and get better!

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

My dad inspires me both on and off the field. He pushes me to be the best version of myself and helped lay the foundation for me in sports. He’s also taught me to never give up. His job doesn’t always allow him to be at my events, but when he gets home, we watch film together as a family.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

In football, my proudest moment was winning our bowl game of my final peewee season. We hadn’t won a game all regular season, but we kept showing up, playing hard, and growing. I also played the whole season with a broken foot. In wrestling, it would be the first time I placed at state. My first year, I lost in the blood round, which was rough. The next year, I broke my arm and seriously considered quitting. My parents convinced me to give it one more year, and I’m glad I did!
