What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

He loves the competitiveness of football, baseball, and throwing shot put and discus. He enjoys challenging himself, improving his skills, and seeing how his hard work pays off during games and competitions. He also values being part of a team, supporting his teammates, and representing his school and family with pride. Most of all, he loves the excitement of competing and the opportunity to become stronger, more disciplined, and confident athlete.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

His grandfather inspires him by overcoming a heart condition and two prosthetic legs while continuing to care for his family. His mother motivates him to always do his best and supports him in every way. He is also inspired by former Dutchtown athletes Will Anderson Jr, Kevon Glenn, Desmond Tell, Will McLean, and Nate McCullough, whose hard work and success show him what is possible through dedication and perseverance.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

As Braylen’s grandmother and throws coach, my proudest moment was when he researched his middle school’s discus record and confidently told me he would break it. He worked tirelessly to improve his technique, and at his very first middle school meet, he accomplished his goal and broke the school record. Watching his determination, preparation, and confidence turn into achievement was unforgettable.
