Brooklyn has not only gone from a kid who gets winded easily to a team player that hasn’t stopped training to one of the fastest on her team
Thank you for supporting Brooklyn in this competition. Your participation made a huge impact for the Why Not You Foundation and their mission to empower change in the world, one individual at a time and one child at a time.
What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreBrooklyn loves working as a team, winning together and losing together, and working hard to make herself a better player. Brooklyn just has a love for playing basketball and everything that goes along with it.
My dad is my inspiration because he is always pushing me to do better and never give up. He is always at my games to support me. He's helped me be a better player on and off the court. We have talks on the way home from games and tournaments about what I did really well and about different techniques I should try and even things I did wrong and how to fix it. He also plays one on one with me in the driveway which is a great bonding time for us; yes, I beat him, too.
I'd have to say seeing an athlete that drives herself to do better and be better. Getting scouted for an AAU basketball program was a very proud moment. She is now spending as much time as she can to better herself by waking up early to go to weightlifting, a strength and agility program, open gym, and is playing in 3 on 3 tournaments. She has also started going for mile and a half runs to help keep herself in shape. The discipline she has for herself and her love of the game is inspiring.
