What I love most about football is being part of a team, competing and the friendships I’ve made. I love playing DB because every play is different and you have to stay focused and ready to react. Football has also given me new opportunities like playing 7v7 with MVP Academy and flag football at Ontario Summer Games. I love being challenged to be better whether I’m playing for my LEP, Spartans, MVP or representing Team Ontario. Nothing better than celebrating a big play with your team!
One of my former Team Ontario teammates inspires me. He has a really strong work ethic and trains a lot outside of regular practices. I’ve watched how much he’s improved since we played together, and he now has two D1 offers. Seeing someone I’ve played with work that hard and have it pay off motivates me to keep training and see how far I can take football too.
What makes me proudest isn’t really one game, or one accomplishment. It’s watching the kind of person Byron has become on and off the field. He encourages everyone, from his best friends to the newest player, and is someone his teammates look up to. Even when he’s hard on himself or has a bad game, he pushes through without letting it affect his sportsmanship. I wish he could see what everyone else sees in him. I’m proud of the athlete he is, but even prouder of the young man he’s becoming.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
