What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreCaitlyn not only loves playing soccer and wrestling to compete and challenge herself, but also to meet new teammates to encourage on and off the field/mat. Caitlyn loves learning new skills from others, no matter how difficult the skill is. She perseveres all while setting an example of an athlete with character and empathy towards others who may also be struggling.
Caitlyn is inspired by her soccer coaches as she has pushed her to extend herself beyond what she thought she was capable of. Her coach strives for her to learn all positions possible even when Caitlyn thought she couldn’t. Her wrestling coaches see the potential on and off the mat. They take time to inspire her to work towards her potential and are always there when she needs them on and off the mat.
When in her sophomore year of varsity soccer, the team was down a goal keeper. At her 4’11” stature, she volunteered for the position and immediately began training to learn goalkeeper. She helped the team to playoffs, where they unfortunately lost in overtime. Through out every game she was determined and didn’t let her size be her fault, but led the team with heart and determination no matter the final score.
