What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreFor Cameron, baseball is the place where the noise of life disappears. The moment he steps onto the field, there is only the game. He loves the brotherhood of his teammates, the guidance of his coaches and the daily challenge of becoming better. He attends optional practices, works when no one is watching and will play any position asked of him. He does not simply play baseball—he feels at home there.
Cameron is inspired by the people who have taught him what it means to keep showing up—his coaches, teammates and family. Their example helped shape the values he lives by: honor, integrity, accountability and hard work. Through major family changes, the loss of his grandfather and a broken ankle, Cameron has learned that character is revealed when life gets difficult. He keeps moving forward, lifts others up and refuses to let adversity define him.
One moment captures Cameron better than any statistic ever could. He once played an entire game while unknowingly suffering from a ruptured appendix. He ran the bases, competed in the field and never complained. Only afterward did anyone realize how sick he was. What makes me proud is not that he played hurt, but what that moment revealed about his heart: he refuses to quit, puts his team before himself and gives everything he has to the game he loves.
