What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreCameron loves the competition - whether against other teams in games or tournaments, or against himself when trying to beat his best score on the golf course or best time on the track. He also loves making new friends every year when a new season starts, and enjoys growing the lifelong friendships he’s made from past years.
Cameron said his parents inspire him - by being supportive and encouraging at the same time as not “sugar-coating” bad performances. With positive reinforcement, reminders to train, and the fact they are always willing to drive to practice/games/tournaments he finds their never ending support inspiring.
Cam recalled a game during last season hockey playoffs against their nemesis team, they were down 3-0. As team Captain he stood up and told everyone not to give up, give it their all, stay positive, and in the end they were able to pull off the win! Cam got his first hat trick that game, a total of 5 points and knows both his example and inspiring words are what pushed the team to get the win.
