What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Carter has been skating since age 2 and playing hockey since age 4, so the game has always been a big part of his life. He loves competing and continually improving, but what he values most is being part of a team. Carter has a quiet confidence and a humble nature. He genuinely enjoys building up his teammates and forming relationships both on and off the ice. For him, hockey is about the people he shares the game with as much as the game itself.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Carter says his biggest inspiration is his dad. He has watched him work hard his entire life and has tremendous respect for his work ethic, dedication and willingness to do whatever it takes to provide for his family. That example has shaped the way Carter approaches hockey and life. He knows that achieving his goals requires sacrifice, perseverance and hard work, and those are qualities he has learned by watching his dad.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

My proudest moment was watching Carter navigate his hardest season. As his mom, it hurt knowing I couldn't fix it for him. At first, adversity fueled him to work harder. But when hard work didn't immediately change his circumstances, it became a mental game. He was a teenager living away from home. It hurt. He struggled. But then he grew. He learned junior hockey guarantees nothing and that growth requires looking honestly at yourself, focusing on what you can control, and pressing on.
