What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What Cayden loves most about wrestling is the challenge—the opportunity to push himself, grow, and become better every day. He loves the discipline, the competition, and the relationships built with his teammates and coaches. Wrestling has taught him perseverance, humility, and the importance of hard work. Most of all, he loves being part of something bigger than himself and having the opportunity to represent his team, school, and community.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Cayden is inspired by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ above all else. His faith guides his character, work ethic, and the way he treats others. He is also inspired by his parents, who have supported and encouraged him throughout his journey, and his coach, Richard Cox, who has challenged him to grow as an athlete and leader. These influences have helped shape Cayden into a humble, determined, and compassionate competitor.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

The moment in Cayden’s athletic journey that makes me the proudest was his final match of the 2025 North Carolina State Wrestling Championship. The entire season had come down to that moment. With the team championship on the line, Cayden stepped onto the mat as a freshman knowing that his performance could determine whether his team became state champions. The pressure was immense, but Cayden showed the heart, focus, and determination that define who he is as an athlete and as person.
