What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreWhat I love most about playing sports is that I get to build new connections with people inside and outside of school. Sports have taught me how to communicate, lead, work with others, and overcome challenges. I enjoy pushing myself to improve while encouraging my teammates to be their best. The friendships, lessons, and memories I gain make every practice, game, and challenge worthwhile.
My mom inspires me to push myself and become the best version of who I can be. She has always recognized my potential to become a great athlete, even when I have doubted myself. Her encouragement motivates me to work harder, remain disciplined, and never settle for less than my best. I want to make her proud by using my talent, leading others, and proving that her belief in me was never misplaced.
The moment that made me proudest was watching her step forward as a team leader when her teammates needed encouragement. She did not focus only on her own performance; she lifted others, stayed composed under pressure, and led by example. Seeing her balance athletics with AP and gifted classes showed me that she is becoming more than a talented athlete—she is becoming a disciplined, dependable, and compassionate young woman.
